Bilal Ibn Rabah

Part one

Before I talk about the lineage and birthplace of the great Sahabi Bilal, it is very appropriate to talk about the topography, name and lifestyle of the land called Habsha, where Bilal is said to have been found.

  Habesha

Although the word Habesha is an Arabic word, it violates the basic grammatical process of the language, but it is a word that has been approved due to its widespread use. And the country Habesha, the people are called Hubshan or Ahabash, and the individual is called Habeshi according to the language. As you know, our country was named by many people in its early days, and the Greek word Ethiopia and the Arabic word Habesha are the references. This country located on the Horn of Africa got this name from the Arabs when the Arabs of Yemen and Hijaz met these peoples through the Red Sea through trade and social ties and these peoples gave them the name when they traveled to the Arabian Gulf. Siwiti also reported that the reason why these people were named by this name was that when they were dispersed, they were said to be a red group and their blackness stood out. Therefore, the people who lived in this Horn of Africa were the tribes of Ham ibn Nuh, or Hemaites, who were divided into different tribes and governed by a firmly structured system. Habesha was the third most powerful country in the world after the Byzantine and Persian dynasties. The capital city was changed by the kings who changed the government according to the time. In the capital of the country, the Prime Minister built his palace and ruled the entire Habsha. Under his rule, the Negash of Tigray was on Aksum, the Negash of Amhara was on Gemdir, the Negash of Damot, and the Negash of Gurage were the leaders of each tribe and they were under the leadership of the General Negash. According to Sweeti, the Abyssinians, who are of the right race, and whose territory reached the entire Horn of Africa and crossed the Red Sea and reached Yemen, but the present-day Sudanese, Kenyans, Somalis, Djibouti, and Yemenis are colonized and not actual inhabitants. But the different peoples were mixed and culture was inherited, languages were born, races were mixed. Therefore, they say that the people of the colonial countries who were found black in color were slaves and were sold to the Arabs because they were bad slaves. If the secret of me quoting this story is revealed to you, you might think that Bilal is not Ethiopian, but from Sudan, Kenya or Somalia, which were colonized by Ethiopia. Although it is true that the slaves are black and shamed by the shamed people, some people take this seriously and say that if they say that they are not Ethiopians,

          Bilal Ibn Rabah

We have seen a little bit of the general situation about Habesha that is the starting point for Bilal's story. Today, we will talk a little about Bilal's parents and family as a starting point for Bilal's story. Good time

Parents of Bilal Ibn Rabah

Among Islamic disciplines, there is a discipline called Ilmel_Ansab (Knowledge of Genealogy). This department mainly studies the genealogy of prominent people in Islam, and most of the studied genealogies are Arab because the majority are Arabs. However, it does not mean that the beginnings have not been studied. In this regard, many records have been published that the Imams, the Mujtehidu Madzahabi and Imam Shafi'i had a deep knowledge of Ilmal Ansab and even the people of their time counted their genealogy and traced it back to our father Adam. Although this field of knowledge contributed significantly to the preservation of the species, it is safe to say that it is now completely extinct. I didn't say that for nothing. Historians, while enumerating the genealogy of many Companions (Arabs) to the end, failed to include the Hemites and Japhethites, who were of foreign origin and descent, due to an overwhelming problem. So, what does this have to do with Bilal? I will tell you that Bilal's genealogy, which has caused controversy from his father and who is above his grandfather, has no real information, that is, the light of this field of knowledge has not been shed on Bilal's phrase. Bilal's biological father is Rabah, according to another report, Abi Rabah and Bilal's biological mother is Hamma. Bilal is sometimes called Ibn Hamma Although there are indications that he was called by his mother, there is no explanation as to why he was called by his mother. Although there is no concrete information about how Bilal's parents started living in Hijaz from Habesha and why they were enslaved, some people rely on weak information and Bilal's parents traveled from Makkalawi Habesha to Negash (King) Abreha, who ruled Yemen under the Supreme Negash of Aksum, to do various jobs and later were employed by the king as cooks. They say they were free people. They add that when Abraha went to Mecca to destroy the Kaaba, they traveled together and were among the Abyssinians who survived the attack of the birds and were captured and enslaved by the Quraysh. They say that the couple were captured and enslaved by people belonging to the tribe of Banu Jumeh, which descends from Banu Keb. As I said before, this story is very poorly informed. All the historians unanimously confirm that Bilal's parents were from the Sabian race living in Ethiopia at that time. Therefore, Bilal's place of birth is another matter of controversy. but the fact that he is a Habib is not doubtful or controversial. Although there is no concrete information about how they started and for what reason they were enslaved, some people rely on weak information and say that Bilal's parents were free people who traveled to Negash (King) Abreha, who ruled Yemen under Aksum's Supreme Negash, to do various jobs and later were employed by the king as cooks.
