Admiral Mu'minin
The battle and contribution of the leader of the believers during his caliphate is not limited to one book. But the aim is to get to know each other and reading their deep stories should be the homework of all of us. If we read it and listen to it, we will never get enough of the battle that they have left us! Let's explore the example of Umar's management from some of his historical archives!
Umar's symbolic leadership
As soon as Umar Ibnul Khattab رضي الله عنه was made the leader of the believers, he began to give a sermon saying that he would not stand on the minbar of the Messenger ﷺ! They promised to give a fair administration to the people and made a dua to themselves saying: "Allahume ini deifen faqawini; waini shadidun felayni; waini bekhilun fasekhini O Allah! Strengthen me because I am weak; make me weak because I am strong; I am stupid and make me kind." They made themselves ready for the leadership!
When we hear about Umar's administration, the first thing that comes to our mind was the fear and anxiety of the people, knowingly or unknowingly, lest they misbehave and mislead their truth. Their anxiety until the moment they meet Allah was the truth and concern of Muslims, subhanallah.
But before we get into it, let's look at the countries where Islam spread during the administration of Umar! Iraq Iran, Syria; Egypt Afghanistan; Turkmenistan; Bukhara; And part of Pakistan was opened by Umar Khilafa. By appointing a leader for each country, they spread the message of Islam and justice! But the most beautiful and surprising story of Quds was more than any opening! The Persians took Quds from Damascus as soon as Rasulullah ﷺ received the message.
Because the Persians were Magus (fire worshippers), they destroyed all the existing Christian denominations! They killed about ninety thousand Christians! Because some Jews wanted to exist, they began to live in harmony with the Persians! When the Qibla moved from Al Aqsa to Kaaba, it was the Persians who ruled Quds.
On the same day of the Badr campaign, King Herakles of Rome defeated the Persians and took over the keys of Quds! During the administration of Umar, Islam opened up many countries! He brought the Persians to their knees in the Qadisian campaign. After the Byzantines (Romans) defeated the Yermuk campaign and took control of all the countries around Palestine, they did not want to shed blood on Quds, so they started a conversation with Safronius, a patriarch with Quds! For four months, Muslims waited outside to enter Quds!
Abu Ubaydah al-Jarrah, who leads the Muslims at the time, explained to him that they are a leadership that governs the Christians with justice. Then Safronius said: "Send us the man we have heard of the justice, and we will give him the keys of Jerusalem!" He sent them a letter. Why did we send Khalid Ibn Walid to Umar, who was tired of staying for four months among the Muslims? he said But Khalid was famous for his campaigns, so Abu Ubaydah sent a letter to the caliph in Medina about the situation.
Caliph Umar loved Medina so much that even when all these openings were made, he would not leave Medina. So they consulted two people, Uthman Ibn Affan and Ali. Uthman said, "Your departure from Madinah will open a hole for the enemies and if you don't leave." Ali, but this is a great opportunity for us! It is the place where Shafi'i ﷺ made the great journey and go, we will take care of the issue here! He said. Umar's main advisor was Ali and by accepting his idea, they started their journey to Quds by putting him in place! But when the leader of the believers did this journey, they did not even go out with their spear except for one of their servants and a camel! Leadership corner!
He is not the only one! The white garment they wore had seventeen stitches. They did not put any protection on their head as a leader! Because the just leader wants to protect justice on the road, I will go half way with his servant! And they promised him that you would go with the other half. They continued their way! When they approached Quds, it was the servant's turn to ride the camel. Khadim Umar knew the difficult mission he was going on, "That admiral of the believers! There is no problem, they are waiting for you." The righteous leader said to them: "Glory belongs to the one who fills in the truth." Peace be upon you, Commander of the Faithful
As they approached Quds, Umar pulled the camel and got stuck in the mud. Seventeen places of their clothes were soaked in mud. Despite that, Umar continued his journey! When they reached an area called Al-Jabiya, Abu Ubaydah Ibn Al-Jarrah and some companions came to welcome Umar! But when they saw it, they were shocked. The Caliph walking on his feet; Abu Ubaydah, who did not like the fact that they came to open Quds with their clothes covered in mud, said, "Should we bring you a change of clothes for that admiral of the believers? Shall we give him a head covering? Something to show that you are the leader of the Muslims!" they have Umar's response was surprising. He said to Abu Ubaydah a speech that many of us repeat and take up.
"Ya Abu Ubaydah! Nehnu Qiyamun azenelahu bil Islam; Wain Ibtegyne ezte ligairi azenelalah. "O Abu Ubaydah! We are a people whom Allah has separated us from Islam, and if we seek supremacy in something other than it, Allah will humiliate us."
When they entered Quds, many people were waiting to see the righteous leader who had been told. But when Umar entered Quds; Umar, who was low for the sake of Allah, made them rise high among his people. The fact that all these countries opened up in this way made them respect them! In their book, they stated that the person who received the key of Quds was depicted as Umar. Sofranius praised them by saying: "She will give a man like you." He started exploring the country while traveling together!
We are told about Umar Ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه because of the abundance, I am confused as to which one to exclude and which one to describe! Although Abu Bakr was the first favorite of Rasulullah ﷺ, Umar's characteristics and the identity of his life are amazing! Many people love Omar very much for a reason! The fairness; The fear of Allah; His martyrdom; His bravery; His honesty; The management will decide which one to leave and which one to leave. For this episode, I liked focusing on what made Omar special. By God's will, let's get to know some of them
First: commitment to the truth
According to Rasoolullah ﷺ, what separates the truth from falsehood is called al-Farooq (al-Farooq) because of his commitment to the truth. We still have a famous dua!
" اللهم أَرِنا الحق حقاق ورزقنا تحميلهه, ورِنا البطل بتلاً وارزقنا تحميله"
"O Allah! Show me the truth as the truth, and give me the ability to follow it. Show me the lie as the lie, and give me the ability to dry it." They used to make dua!
They also have an interesting saying: "A successful person is one who protects himself from the desires of his soul, from greed and anger. There is no good in anything else like true speech."
Umerul Farooq was not one to hide his honesty. They didn't hesitate to say what they felt! Once Habibi ﷺ gathered his companions and said to them: "One of you will not believe until he loves me more than himself, his children and his family." Umar could not hide what he heard when they said this: "O Rasulullah ﷺ, you are loved more than my family and my children except myself." Habibi said: "That Umar has not fulfilled your faith!" Umar went into his house, thought, meditated and came back. You are now loved more than my soul. They said: Subhanallah
That is why Habibi ﷺ in one of his hadiths praised the honor that others did not like by saying:
"If I was later a prophet, then Omar bin Al-Khattab would be."
"If a prophet had been sent after me, it would have been Umar."
When scholars analyze this hadith, they say that because it destroys lies and reigns the truth! They say this is the character of the prophets!
Second: The Qur'an has been revealed many times in support of him
Many of the elders of the Qur'an have come down in support of Umar's idea! One is about Hamr. During Jahiliyyah, there was no one who loved and drank like him. But he stood in the night prayer and said, "O Allah! Make clear to us the issue of drinking." He used to make dua by saying ! There was a strong desire to have Hamr banned. After the Battle of Badr, Allah revealed the verse about the prohibition of drinking.
On another occasion, they debated whether we should release the captives of Badr and kill them! Rasoolullah ﷺ was very compassionate and said to let them go. Abu Bakr supported him and agreed, but Umar said that if we let them go without being strong, we will make them come ready for us again, so it is wrong for them! The Messenger of God ﷺ released the captives! But Allah later supported Umar's idea and sent down an ayah! Habibi ﷺ and Abakr started crying. When Umar found the two of them crying, he stopped sharing their pain and said, "Oh Rasulullah ﷺ! Tell me what makes you cry and I will cry with you." they have That Umar! What a wonderful person you were!
The other incident was Abdullah Ibn Ubayy Ibn Salul who worked with the enemy pretending to be Muslims; When the hypocrite who had plotted to kill Habibi died, Rasulullah ﷺ was very compassionate and Umar stopped them from prostrating at his funeral! Because he was afraid that this would be a sign for other hypocrites! on your jealousy; Umar forbade them because it shows that they should continue with the conspiracy, and Allah revealed in support of Umar's idea in Surat al-Tawbah!
And
"Do not ask for mercy for them, or do not ask for mercy for them (it is the same). If you ask for mercy for them seventy times, Allah will never have mercy on them. This is because they have denied Allah and His Messenger. And Allah does not guide rebellious people. "It is strange!
Third: Their strength in worship
They say that none of the Companions will stay overnight like Umar! They say that because his voice is loud, he is often heard crying loudly. Ibn Abbas says: "When we met Umar in the morning, we could see large boils under his eyes because he was crying so much." SubhanAllah! At one point, a person hears a place in Surat al-Hujjit where Allah talks about the punishment of wrongdoing; When I heard the grandfather, I felt that he was talking to me, says Umer Subhanelah
الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
"For those who play in lies.
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًا
"On the Day when they will push you into Hellfire by force." ... When Umar heard this, he was shocked; Paradise was witnessed to them, but he fell ill because of his fear of God! He got sick until other companions went to ask him! Ufafa my Umar
Fourth: There is no companion of Allah's Messenger ﷺ who saw him repeatedly in his dreams like Umar! How lucky is it to be a part of Habibi ﷺ's dream?
Let's pick some of their dreams
• The Messenger of God ﷺ says: "Once I looked at my people. Some of them wore clothes that only covered their chests, some of them wore only below their knees. While I was looking at them, Umar passed by me pulling a long dress." They said
Habib ﷺ said, "It is deen."
They interpreted it as. Ulema say that it is Umar's commitment to the religion.
